Designing of a Small Business Advocacy Program:
BTG assisted a large government agency develop a strategic work plan for a $500 Million small business program. This was the largest program ever for this agency and had no standards or processes prior to BTG's involvement. The new program, and the approach we designed established a consensus between all stakeholders and created a cohesive game plan to getting to a 40% small business participation goal on a $1.4 Billion project. This new program established a process which brought together the government client and the prime contractor in partnership to accomplish a set of contract goals that is the largest in this agency's history.
Connecting Small Businesses to Multi-Million Dollar Contract Opportunities:
We successfully identified and assisted over 200 small business contractors gain access to large contract opportunities with a prime contractor. We helped the client manage and facilitate work group sessions and develop and facilitate Statement of Work (SOW) opportunity sessions for the small business community. We also provided business guidance and assistance to several small business teaming efforts. We advised the prime contractor and the government agency on strategic approaches to develop a course of action toward meeting its program goals.
Preparing a Small Business for a Profitable Sale:
BTG’s consultants performed the proprietary BTG Business Growth assessment and helped the company owner develop strategies for improving the quality of services received from their vendors. BTG also helped the company improve a business planning process to incorporate a budgeting and execution program. BTGs consultants provided advice on how to better leverage technology in their business operations. These business practices help the owner establish an infrastructure that allowed him to successfully sale his business after 30 years of success, the owner sold the business to an employee team who now owns and operates the enterprise.
Developing a Repeatable Business Model:
BTG performed the Business Growth assessment and developed a cost benefit analysis associated with a business plan for developing a business prototype. BTG is assisting the company develop a business prototype that will be used to expand the business operation to other states partnering with a National Chain as a strategic partner. BTG advises this company owner on issues related to employee bonus plans for their project managers, approaches to developing a balanced score card with a strong, measurable growth plan and determining the cost/benefit trade-offs to initiatives needed to support the plan.
Establishing a Foundation for Growing Threefold:
BTG led the transformation of an IT and management consulting firm. We helped the company establish and mature many of its operating models. A strategic operating plan and performance metrics were determined to measure enterprise and individual goals and alignment. These changes resulted in tripled revenues of two major customers and doubled revenues of another. It also created a backlog of work spanning three years. A partnership strategy developed more than $15 Million in sales. A compensation package attracted senior professionals and executives out of major fortune 500 companies, and Partner level consultants out of major consulting firms. Total revenues were doubled in one year and gross margin increased by 60%.
Establishing an Emerging Business Partnership Program:
BTG assisted a large predominantly commercial consulting firm get established with successful small to mid-sized companies. In the past this organization rarely partnered with other companies and did not have a program in place to nurture relationships with small businesses. In the first year 70% of the consulting firm's new practice revenues utilized the small business relationships, processes and programs we put in place. The program continues to be used, generating business for both the large consulting firm and its small business partners.
